Sprouts Ahoy!
Seeds
The Butterhead lettuce is growing like weeds. 17 out of the 18 cells have growth, the tallest of which are approaching an inch. Over half of the Bon Vivant lettuce has sprouted.
Meanwhile, in the 50-pod trays, there is still little sign of life. A soy bean that I left on the dirt surface as an experiment is beginning to sprout. I imagine these larger seeds will take some time to catch up with the tiny lettuce seed. Still, I’d expect to see some action in one of the 100 pods growing tomatoes by now…
Weather
The forecast indicates that things should be steadily warming up over the next week. Perhaps in the 60s 5 days from now.
Weeds
The dandelions in my yard seem to have made a full recovery from our weeding frenzy last weekend. Sometimes it seems like it would be easier to cover the whole yard in black plastic and start over from scratch.
Observations
I find it interesting that most plants seem to sprout in an identical way. It’s somewhat similar to how a human fetus looks a lot like a cow or a cat at early developmental stages. I wonder what color the beet sprouts will be…
